Hacky sacks, or footbags, offer an enjoyable leisure activity and a good source of exercise. Though hacky sacks are generally inexpensive, there is still a special satisfaction that comes from creating your own bag.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Leather (enough for two circular panels of roughly twice your desired diameter) Scissors Sewing needle Thread Unpopped corn kernels
  1. Step 1

Cut two circular panels from the leather twice the diameter of the sack you want to make (4 inches to 6 inches is recommended).

  2. Step 2

Align one panel on the other and sew them together around the outer edge so that they form a deflated sphere. Leave enough space in part of the seam to turn the sack inside-out.

  3. Step 3

Pull the sack through the opening in the seam, leaving most of your stitching on the inside of the sack.

  4. Step 4

Fill the sack with the unpopped corn kernels until you reach your desired firmness. Some give is recommended, but not so much that the sack does not maintain its shape.

  5. Step 5

Sew the seam shut, and tie the thread off before using your hacky sack.
