How to Make French Toast for One

  1. Step 1

Place the frying pan on a stove top burner over medium heat. Put one tablespoon of butter into the frying pan to grease the bottom. While the butter is melting, beat eggs in the mixing bowl. Add milk, vanilla extract and ground cinnamon to the beaten eggs and continue beating. Beat the eggs until they are light and fluffy as for scrambled eggs.

  2. Step 2

Coat one slice of Texas toast on both sides with the beaten egg mixture. Place in the frying pan. You will hear a sizzle because of the pan is heating. Repeat this process for the second piece of Texas toast. You can use regular sandwich bread or sliced French bread to make French toast for one. However, Texas toast is a thicker bread and absorbs more of the egg mixture, making an excellent French toast bread.

  3. Step 3

Cook the bread on one side for about four minutes or until browned. Turn and brown the other side. Each side will be golden yellow and browned when done. Do not under cook as raw egg may contain salmonella which causes food-born illness.

  4. Step 4

Place the toast on a plate and slice in half, making the French toast into four triangle slices. If desired, sprinkle with powdered sugar. Beat the leftover egg mixture and pour slowly into the frying pan.

  5. Step 5

Use a spatula to move the egg mixture around in the pan. Let the egg mixture harden and turn yellow while scrambling. This will take one to three minutes and create a side dish. Serve toast with maple syrup if desired.

Tips & Warnings
