  1. Step 1

Keep your ears clean. Tinnitus becomes worse with wax build-up. Put a drop of hydrogen peroxide in your ears daily to remove excess wax. Clean the outer part of your ear canal with a cotton swab to remove excess wax and peroxide.

  2. Step 2

Use "Ring Relief" an over the counter tinnitus product in your ear the tinnitus is at it's worse. This will eliminate ear pain and lessen the ringing.

  3. Step 3

When tinnitus is at it's worse, keep cotton in your ears as it actually deadens the sound of the ringing although you may need to ask others to speak up.

  4. Step 4

Go to sleep with the tv or radio on to distract from the ringing in the ears. You can set them on a timer if you don't want them to stay on all night.

  5. Step 5

Let your family know when your tinnitus is acting up so they will understand if you are a little short tempered.
