Is your child's closet disgusting with clutter? Here are a few easy steps to cleaning it up.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • small storage bins
  • colored hangers
  • shoe caddy
  • hamper if space allows.
  1. Step 1

Gather like things. (shoes, clothes, undergarments, toys, etc.) you may want to move thing out of the closet.

  2. Step 2

First, go through close to make sure clothes fit and are in season. Move old clothes that don't fit anymore into a trash bag to move to storage, donate, or sell.

  3. Step 3

Move clothes that you still want back into closet and hang with colored hangers. (If more than one child share a closet color code hangers. Let the children know which color is theirs.) If their is only one child using a closet, you can color code the hangers to what type of clothes their are in the closet. (shirts, pants, coats, etc) keep special hangers to help kids plan their weekly outfits.

  4. Step 4

Hang a shoe caddy to organize shoes and keep them off the floor. Teach your kids that this is where the shoes belong. Therefore the kids will not have to search the house for shoes.

  5. Step 5

Use a couple of storage bins to organize things such as undergarments and toys. Make sure your kids know to put the toys back in the bin after use to avoid clutter in the room.

  6. Step 6

Show kids how to check for dirty clothes and to put them in the hamper. This will prevent you from washing clean clothes.
