Cards gone wild!
Cards gone wild!

Do you purchase the perfect greeting card for that special someone, take it home and promptly lose it? Do yourself a favor and designate a place in your home to house all things related to greeting cards.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pretty box with dividers or a divided file folder
  • Sharpie marker
  • Labels
  • Greeting cards
  • Stamps
  • Small binder clips
  1. Step 1

Go on a search and rescue mission to find all those greeting cards stashed in drawers, boxes, wherever you put things for safekeeping. Look through your in-box, bills to be paid, even the stacks of papers waiting to be filed. You never know where you'll find a card.

  2. Step 2

Set aside a block of time to devote to organizing the cards. Divide the cards into categories that make sense to you. Start with general groups such as Birthday, then make sub-groups like Children's Birthdays if you have the need.

  3. Step 3

Label the dividers in the pretty box or in the file folder with your occasions. You can put them in alphabetical order or, put Birthdays, Weddings and Graduations first and then holidays in order of occurrence i.e. New Years cards, Easter cards, Thanksgiving cards and Christmas cards. Another option is to file by family member.

  4. Step 4

Add the cards in the appropriate sections. If you find you purchase more than one card for certain people (say a funny card and a serious card) use small binder clips to hold the cards so you can mail them together.

  5. Step 5

Keep stamps and pens in one of the sections so you always have them handy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a filing system that makes sense to you, otherwise you won't use it.
  • This is a system that only works if you keep up with it.
  • As soon as you come home after buying a card, walk right to your greeting card area and file the card. After a few times it will become a habit.
