Things You'll Need:
- Lawn mower
- Gravel path
- Light color clothing
- Yard Clean-up
- Commercial pest control
-
Step 1
Cut your lawn short. The shorter the better, when your grass is long it becomes a campground for ticks.
-
Step 2
Plant trees, shrubs and flowerbeds away from high traffic areas in your yard. If your yard does have ticks, they will be hiding in the vegetation.
-
Step 3
Install a two-foot gravel path around your flowerbeds, trees and shrubs. This gravel path will prevent the ticks from crossing over into the high traffic areas of your yard.
-
Step 4
Remove all leaf debris in the fall. If the leaves are left until spring you will have an over population of ticks, snakes and borers.
-
Step 5
Discourage wildlife from visiting your yard. Deer and raccoons are carriers of ticks.
-
Step 6
Contact a commercial pest control service; make an appointment for your yard to sprayed. In order to eliminate an infestation of ticks have your yard serviced in the spring and the fall.
