How to Write Your Own Comic Book

Comic books are similar to short stories but with added graphics, black or white or in color. If you have a great story, why not turn it into a comic book?

1. First you need an idea or plot for your short story. It could be a drama, comedy, science fiction, romantic or superhero action. Any story can be made into a comic book because you are just adding pictures to enhance the story for your readers. Read popular comics and see how the standard is set up.

2. Create characters and develop their personalities. It will make it easier to write about them and create their dialogue within your story. This includes your villians if you are writing a protagonist vs. antagonist kind of story.

3. Once you have written your story, try some sketches of your characters walking or driving or just talking. The point is to see your characters interacting involving your story line.

4. Paint or use pencils for your drawings. Make sure your dialogue is clear so your readers can follow your comic without difficulty. When you have all your drawing panels set, put them together and see how well you did. Good luck!
