Step 1
Collect item(s) you wish to sell. Clean items using your favorite clean supplies. I prefer Clorox Disinfecting Wipes for just about everything.
-
Step 2
Carefully look over each item for any quick repairs. Make any simple repairs. Example: Tighten loose bolts on furniture and toys. Run wax along zippers so they won't stick. These simple repairs will pay off in the end.
-
Step 3
Place new batteries in all electronics! Sure it seems costly, but let your buyers see the electronics work! If they see it works, they won't feel the need to haggle the price down.
And if you have your old boxes, like an old cell phone, clean it up and place it back in it's original box. Sure to impress anyone! -
Step 4
Wrap a pretty ribbon around items such as: sheet sets, shoes, and outfits to make the item more appealing and keeps the item altogether.
Typing or writing a "list of contents" whenever items have multiple pieces. Let your buyer know all the pieces are there (or not!) -
Step 5
Be sure to have plenty of table space! Not enough space and your customers have to search and dig. Everything gets strung about! Any sets are now too hard to find all the pieces sending your profits down the drain.
-
Step 6
Creating an organized yard sale not only makes shopping easier for your customers,it creates more money because your customers know what they are getting, but it saves you the hassle of a disorganized mess! Whatever doesn't sell, just pack it up in a bigger box, (becuase it's already organized!) and stop by the nearest donation drop off. Don't forget to ask for a receipt so you can write it off as a contribution on your taxes!
