Things You'll Need:
- Business Plan
- Financing
-
Step 1
Create A Business Idea:
Choose a business idea that you are passionate about. Take time to consider what you enjoy doing, and this will put an everlasting drive in to the goals that you want to meet. You will have to love what your doing in order to create a successful business. -
Step 2
Some Business Ideas And Choices:
You may consider to buy in to a franchise or an desisting business; however, you should take caution when going this route by researching the business you intend to buy. You may also want to look to others for business ideas. Once you have made a decision, then the work begins. -
Step 3
Compiling A Business Plan:
When seeking for funds to help start your business, your lenders will want information about your plan. This plan is used to evaluate your business from a self point of view and also from others. Even if your financing it yourself, it is wise to have a small business plan available. This plan will include marketing strategies that you will use to promote and advertise your business. It will also make available the capital it will take to analyze the success of the business in future years. -
Step 4
Financial Loans To Consider:
When having your plan ready, it is time for you to consider where to get financial backing for your venture. You may consider family members for this step, but most want control of part of the business. Bank loans are another option, but tend to add additional expenses to the project and deluging the profits. Investors are an option but most seem to want part control also. Consider also going through the Small Business Association for low interest loans. -
Step 5
Legal Structure:
You have three choices in choosing your business structure, they are Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, or Corporation. The financial loans you have chosen will have an effect on which category you will fall under. After this step you can file for a federal identification number. -
Step 6
Open The Business:
Now that you have this out of the way; and your financing is done, you are ready to spend the money. You will need a location and space, for running your business. Are you willing to run your business in a home office, or do you need commercial space for your business. Do you need to hire employees and accountants for your bookkeeping needs. These should all be considered along with getting your business financed.
