Things You'll Need
- 8 cups cubed, seedless watermelon
- 6 limes
- 4 cups water
- 4 cups sugar
- 8 margarita glasses
- 1.5 cups coarse salt
- 4 cups tequila
- 4 cups ice
Instructions

-
1
Place the cubed watermelon in the freezer overnight. Freezing the watermelon allows you to reduce the amount of ice and to enhance the fruity flavor of the drink. If you do not want to freeze the watermelon, double the amount of ice called for in this recipe.
-
2
Place the margarita glasses in the freezer at least 30 minutes before you intend to serve the margaritas.
-
-
3
Slice one lime into eight wedges and set them aside.
-
4
Grate the pulp of the remaining limes until you have 1/3 cup of lime zest.
-
5
Juice the remaining limes until you have 1 cup of lime juice. Reserve this juice for later.
-
6
Combine the lime zest, water and sugar in a medium-sized saucepan and bring these ingredients to a boil over medium heat. Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves. Once the sugar dissolves, remove the mixture from the heat.
-
7
Pour the sugar mixture into a bowl and allow the mixture to cool in the refrigerator.
-
8
Strain the lime zest from the sugar mixture and set it aside.
-
9
Remove the margarita glasses from the freezer and dunk the rim of each glass into some warm water. Next, dip the rims into the coarse salt. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge.
-
10
Combine the sugar mixture, frozen watermelon, lime juice, tequila and ice in a large bowl to create the margarita mix.
-
11
Pour the margarita mixture into your blender, blend it and pour it into the pitcher. If your blender is too small, you may need to repeat this process several times.
-
12
Give each person a margarita glass; serve the pitcher of margaritas.
