Things You'll Need:
- Wide brush (with many bristles) Hat Dandruff shampoo Aloe Vera Shower cap
-
Step 1
Brush your hair twice a day. It is best to brush your hair once in the morning and once at night. This will help get rid of those extra dead skin cells. Do not use a comb. A comb will not help as much as a brush can because it is too narrow. Use a wide brush with many bristles.
-
Step 2
Cover your head with a hat. Sometimes dandruff can be caused by a yeast allergy, which causes dandruff when the sun's rays hit the scalp. Eliminate dandruff by wearing a hat when you go outdoors. This will also help eliminate dandruff if you have dry skin. Dry skin that causes dandruff is usually due to extreme temperatures. Keep your head warm in the winter with a hat.
-
Step 3
Shampoo your hair more often to eliminate dandruff. If you are already shampooing your hair every day or every other day you might need to reduce that. Shampooing too often or not often enough can cause dandruff. If you shampoo more than once a day, you need to cut back to just once a day or every other day.
-
Step 4
Start using a shampoo that is specifically designed to help eliminate dandruff. Look for these active ingredients: Zinc pyrithione, Salicylic acids, Selenium sulphide, Ketoconazole, Coal tar, and/or tea tree oil. These ingredients help reduce the itching and eliminate dandruff. Use dandruff shampoo every day until the dandruff subsides, and then use it just once a week.
-
Step 5
Apply a liberal amount of Aloe Vera to your scalp and rub it in. Do this before bedtime. Wear a shower cap during the night to keep it from getting all over your pillow. Shampoo and rinse your hair thoroughly in the morning. The Aloe Vera can help eliminate dandruff with its many healing properties.
