Scrapbooking is a good way to record your family history and save your photo keepsakes in a protective album. There are items that need to be attached when you are making a scrapbook layout or page, including photos, mats, journaling boxes, embellishments and titles. It is important to have archival-safe products to use when putting a layout together. There are several types of attachments that will work on a scrapbook layout.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

    Attach Layout Components

  1. Step 1

Set a photo face down on a clean surface. Press a tape runner cartridge to the corners of the photo back. The tape runner will roll out adhesive onto the surface it touches. Turn the photo over and adhere it to a mat or directly to the scrapbook layout.

  2. Step 2

Place a title, journaling box paper or matted embellishment onto the scrapbook layout. Attach stickers to the four corners of the piece, adhering it to the layout page.

  3. Step 3

Use a sewing machine to sew and attach a layout piece to the background paper. Use a running stitch to attach the component to the layout.

  4. Step 4

Punch tiny holes in a layout component with a handheld paper punch. Punch matching holes into the layout paper. Insert scrapbooking brad fasteners through both sets of holes to attach the component to the layout.

  5. Step 5

Adhere photo corners to a mat or directly to the scrapbook page. Insert a photo, mat or journaling box into the photo corners to attach them to the layout.

Tips & Warnings
  • A journaling box is a card stock or scrapbook paper shape that gives you a place to write or journal about the event you are scrapbooking.
  • Glue stick is not recommended for attaching layout features to the paper. The items tend to become detached after a few months or years of scrapbook storage. Do not use any rubber-based adhesives or tape in a scrapbook.
