Make Windows 98 Look Like Windows XP

Some people who use Windows 98 have problems upgrading to more recent versions of Windows. Many of them, at the very least, are tired of the graphical user interface (i.e., the look) of Windows 98 and would like to change Windows 98 to make it look like Windows XP. Fortunately, this can be done by following a set of simple steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install the tool that can change the Windows themes and graphical user interface. Window Blinds (see Resources) is a good tool for this purpose. Use the version that supports Windows 98.

    • 2

Download the skins (themes, boot skins and icon packages) for Windows XP from "WinCustomize.com".

    • 3

Use the skins that contain the menu bar, start menu and dialog boxes (for XP) to change the appearance of the Start menu and menu bars.

    • 4

Apply all the skins to your desktop using the tool you downloaded (Window Blinds).

    • 5

Perform minor tweaks like changing the screen saver or wallpaper if required. Set the visual performances in your desktop to highest level. This can be done clicking "Display option" in the Control Panel.
