A Bluetooth "stack" is a term used to refer to the software and drivers that control Bluetooth devices such as headsets. Many users find that they are unhappy with the stack that came installed on their computer and they wish to replace it. Following a simple set of steps, a user can readily replace a Bluetooth stack.

      Go to the Windows Desktop and click the "Start" button. Select "Control Panel" and then double-click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.

      Locate the name of the Bluetooth stack you are removing and click on it to select it. Click on the button labeled "Change/Remove Program". Afterwards, Windows will complain that it can't find a driver for your "UGX" - that's your Bluetooth adapter.

      Go back to "Control Panel", select "System", then "System Properties" and then "Device Manager".

      Locate "UGX", then click on "Update Device Driver". It will most likely be unable to find the software and prompt you with a question "Do you want to find the software...?" Select the option to "Show all hardware available". Click on "Bluetooth", and then select "Alps USB Bluetooth Adapter". The computer will install the drivers.

      Reboot your computer and you are finished. You have replaced your Bluetooth stack with the Windows stack.
