Instructions

    • 1

Pick up any solid waste with a paper towel, being careful not to rub it into the carpet or upholstery.

    • 2

Place a layer of five to six paper towels on top of the stain and blot up as much liquid as possible. Replace the paper towels as they get soaked through.

    • 3

Mix one part vinegar to one part water in a spray bottle. Spray liberally onto the stain and allow to sit for 15 minutes.

    • 4

Blot up with a terry-cloth towel or other absorbent material. Replace the towel if needed.

    • 5

Spray and blot again if the stain is still apparent.

Tips & Warnings

  • For old stains, sprinkle three to four teaspoons of baking soda on the stain and spray with vinegar, then blot up.

  • Avoid using ammonia, because the smell can encourage pets to soil in that area again.
