Fuel stoves, mostly used for camping, are an alternative to the popular propane stoves used by many campers. Fuel stoves are often smaller and do not require a supply of propane tanks, making packing easier for campers. They can be used to cook food or heat water at the campsite, and are easily transportable due to their small size. Fuel stoves are relatively easy to use, and with a few simple instructions, any camper will be prepared to operate one.

Things You'll Need:

  • Fuel stove Matches Funnel
  1. Step 1

Remove stove from box and place in a safe area. Make sure to stay away from dry brush and other easily flammable objects.

  2. Step 2

Unscrew the cap to the fuel tank and place a funnel inside.

  3. Step 3

Pour fuel into the fuel tank through the funnel.

  4. Step 4

Remove the funnel and screw the cap tightly back onto the fuel tank.

  5. Step 5

Use the pump, usually found on the side opposite to the cap, to pressurize the fuel. Do this by unscrewing the knob, pulling it out and pumping it eight or nine times, then screwing the knob back in.

  6. Step 6

Set the stove setting to light and use a match to start the flame.

  7. Step 7

Put the stove on the desired setting and it is ready to use.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a coffee filter to line the inside of the funnel, which will ensure that the fuel going into your stove is clean.
  • Make sure to set the stove to the off position when you are finished with it. Always exercise caution when dealing with an open flame, especially in the woods.
