When looking to sell a car, having a big market of potential buyers is important. This is why, when selling in a big city such as Boston, there are several platforms on which to sell your automobile. In Boston, however, the challenge becomes where to sell the car and how to find the best deal. There are over 300 used car dealerships in the greater Boston area; that can make it difficult to find a place to sell. With so many locations, buyers always feel like they can get a cheaper deal elsewhere, which may make it difficult for you to obtain a desirable price.

    Reaching Potential Buyers

  1. Step 1

Place a listing in "The Boston Globe": "The Globe" is the largest daily newspaper in Massachusetts and is an ideal way to start selling. "The Globe" has a daily listing for used cars and also sell on their website via Cars.com. The advantage of using the "Globe"'s website to sell your car is that Cars.com will reach more than just "Globe" readers. Via the "Globe"'s site, buyers can search by location, new or used, make, model, price or year.

  2. Step 2

Sell your car to Autobahn USA: Autobahn USA is a national chain of used car dealerships that will sell all styles of cars. They have a location in Boston---they will also buy your car for resale, even if you are not trading it in for another car. You can walk in to sell your car; you can also fill out an online form about your car and they can give you an estimate. Autobahn USA also has a car finder on their website; this way your car will also be listed for those who don't go into the showroom.

  3. Step 3

Sell the car via Autotrader.com: Autotrader.com will allow a seller to sell his car from Boston, but will be able to reach a national audience. The difference between using Auto Trader and Autobahn USA is that Auto Trader is only done online and Auto Trader will ship your car to the buyer's location. Auto Trader also has an online system for those wishing to sell their car. According to the Auto Trader site, they handle over 14 million car shoppers each month. Auto Trader will also help you create your own ad for the car you wish to sell and provides you with tips and advice to maximize the profit on your sale.
