Play Fantasy Football. A quick way to learn about statistics and what they mean during a game is by playing Fantasy Football. Many online services have fantasy leagues that allow you to choose your players and chart how they perform each week.

Ask questions. Talk to other people. If you watch games in group settings and you don't understand what's happening on the field, ask. Someone will explain what's going on in a way that you understand.
