Microsoft SQL Server is a database creation and management tool. Microsoft SQL Server databases are used in networks, behind websites and in desktop applications. You may need to remove Microsoft SQL Server when upgrading due to a corrupted database or because of a bad install. Microsoft makes it simple to remove an SQL Server instance through a wizard format. The entire process takes approximately five minutes and can be done by users of all levels.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on "Start." Choose "Control Panel," and then select "Add/Remove Programs." This will list all currently installed programs.

  2. Step 2

Select "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" from the program list. The 2005 may be different, depending on your version.

  3. Step 3

Choose "Change/Remove" to start the removal wizard.

  4. Step 4

Choose "Workstation Components" and click "Next" twice. Choose "Change Installed Components" on the "Change or Remove Instance" page.

  5. Step 5

Click the plus sign to expand "Client Components." Choose "Management Tools." Click "Entire Feature Will Be Unavailable."

  6. Step 6

Click "Next" and "Install" to uninstall all features.
