How to Make Double Decadence Chocolate Chip Brownies

Things You'll Need
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup softened butter or margarine
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 2 c. (12 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- Powdered Sugar

Heat oven to 350 degrees F.

Lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.

Beat sugar, butter or margarine, eggs and vanilla until smooth.

Melt 1 cup chocolate chips in a double boiler or in the microwave on medium power for 30 seconds at a time, stirring until smooth. (In the microwave, chips will appear to hold their shape when they are actually melted.)

Stir chocolate into the butter/sugar mixture.

Add flour, oats, baking powder, remaining chocolate chips and nuts and mix well.

Spread batter into prepared pan.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until brownies pull away from the sides of pan.

Cool completely, then sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Cut into bars.

Tips & Warnings
You can leave out the nuts if you want.
These brownies will be more cakey than fudgy.

Tip for homemade frosting. Combine 1/4 cup cocoa, 1/3 cup buttermilk and 1/2 cup margarine in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and coconut and mix well. Spread over warm brownies.
