How to Disassemble a Glock 26

A reliable gun, like a Glock 26, can be a valuable part of home safety if properly protected and maintained. To keep your gun in good condition, you need to be able to disassemble it to clean it. Field-stripping your Glock 26 takes only a few steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

    Ensure the Pistol is Not Loaded

  1. Step 1

    Remove the magazine.

  2. Step 2

    Pull back the slide and make sure the chamber is empty.

  3. Step 3

    Pull the trigger (making sure the gun is pointed in a safe direction).

  4. Field Stripping the Weapon

  5. Step 1

    Grip the butt of the pistol with one hand, with your thumb across the top of the grip and your fingers wrapped around the top rear of the pistol.

  6. Step 2

    Press the takedown levers with your other hand.

  7. Step 3

    Remove the slide from the front of the pistol.

  8. Step 4

    Grab the recoil spring from the underside of the slide and remove it.

  9. Step 5

    Grab the barrel from the underside of the slide and remove it.
