Microsoft Outlook Express is a software application used to send and receive emails and read items in a newsgroup. It is included by default with Internet Explorer on Windows operating systems. Outlook Express differs from Microsoft Office Outlook in that it cannot connect to a Microsoft Exchange email server and does not include tools such as a calendar. You can customize the appearance of Outlook Express according to your needs. For example, you can delete a button in Outlook Express that does not work.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open Outlook Express. Right-click on the menu bar and select "Customize" from the context menu. This opens the Customize Toolbar window.

  2. Step 2

Click the button that does not work in the "Current toolbar buttons" list. For example, if the Newsgroups button is on the toolbar but does not work because you do not have access to Internet newsgroups, click the "Newsgroups" button.

  3. Step 3

Click the "Remove" button in the center of the Customize Toolbar window. The button you want to remove will be removed from the toolbar.

  4. Step 4

Repeat the process to delete other buttons as needed. Click the "OK" button to close the Customize Toolbar window.

  5. Step 5

Close and then restart Outlook Express to complete the process.
