Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

This year, the summer heat, has been very high, and dangerous. This year we have received heat advisories from the weather bureau, warning us to stay out of the heat as much as possible. Children, as well, as the elderly are at a higher risk for heat related illnesses.

  2. Step 2

There are some things that you can do to help stay cool this summer. Get your self a bath towel. Soak it in water. Drop it into a plastic bag. Put ice cubes on top of the towel. Tie up the bag. Do this in the morning hours, before it gets hot. Take the towel with you. When the heat starts setting in, and you need cooling off a bit, take the towel out of the plastic bag. Place the towel over your back and shoulders. All the way across. It may even drip a little, but .. the point is, it will cool you off, and keep you from having a heat stroke.

  3. Step 3

Carry a wash cloth with you. Just a dry one is fine. This towel is solely for wiping your forehead and face. In the summers heat, a small towel is a necessity, especially, if you have to go out anywhere.

  4. Step 4

Use a sunscreen. This actually will help out some. Gatorade is another item, that helps to keep from getting dehydrated. Take advantage of shade trees. If you don't have shade trees, then try to stay under a fan or an air conditioner, especially after 12 noon of each day. After 12 noon, is usually when it is the hottest, and the more likely to cause heat strokes.

  5. Step 5

Always keep cold drinks and ice handy. That ice and cold drinks, will help to cool the body down. Used in conjunction with the towels and sunscreen, you will be more able to tolerate the heat.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you feel faint. Sit down quickly.
  • Drink lots of fluids.
