Add Hulu and Netflix to Front Row and enjoy your favorite movies.

Apple's Front Row is a great way to enjoy movies, TV shows and music from your iTunes library. Thanks to a plug-in, programming from Netflix and Hulu has been added to the mix. Installing the plug-in is easy and takes just a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Web browser and download a copy of Understudy from the project’s home page on the Google Code website. Bookmark the page so you can check back for news and updates. Save the file to your desktop and wait for the download to complete.

    • 2

Double-click the downloaded package to install the plug-in. Once it has been installed, restart your computer. You can now delete the Understudy package from your download folder.

    • 3

Launch Front Row by pressing the “Command” and “Esc” keys simultaneously on your keyboard. Alternately, double-click the application on Macs running Leopard and above. When the plug-in opens, you should see the Understudy menu.

    • 4

Scroll down and select “Understudy.” You’ll see a list of the feeds you’ve added. Click on "Manage Feed" to add, remove, rename or move a feed. If you want a particular show, you can open your browser to find the URL on Hulu or Netflix and then add it by using the “Clipboard” feature under “Add Feeds.”

Tips & Warnings

  • Hulu is very finicky about who can and can't access its website. Check the updates page on the Understudy website regularly to make sure you have the current patch.
