You have an investment in your mower or lawn tractor so you need to ensure they will last. Grass clippings left on an unprotected surface may eventually lead to rust. Additionally, storing your lawn equipment without removing clippings will mean a rotting odor in the area where it is stored.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Car wax
  • Soft cloths
  • Water hose
  1. Step 1

Wash the lawn tractor or mower to remove any dust, dirt or grass clippings. Using a soft cloth dry the equipment.

  2. Step 2

Once the tractor or mower is dry, put the first coat of a good quality car wax on all surfaces; the hood, fender, sides (in the case of a lawn tractor) and deck (for both). Reach as far back as you can on the tractor deck.

  3. Step 3

You need to put on two coats of wax. Read the instructions on the container for the wax to see if you need to buff the first coat before putting on the second coat. Follow the instructions and don't skip the buffing!

  4. Step 4

After you have waxed and buffed the mower/s, the equipment will be easy to keep clean. After mowing, use a soft cloth to wipe all debris off or a lawn blower to easily blow it off! In either case, it will slide right off.
