Step 1
The most obvious is to select a good Indonesian Palm Tree from your local retailer. You can find them many places, even at your local Wal-mart. Inspect the leaves for any damage. Notice how well the other plants are being cared for. If it appears that the plants are being neglected, shop elsewhere.
-
Step 2
Place your Indonesian Palm Tree in your home in an area that has good ventilation. The Indonesian Palm likes light, but not direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will burn the leaves. The best light for your plant is dappled sunlight.
-
Step 3
Fertilize often. Use any standard fertilizer like Scott’s or Miracle–grow. Follow the label directions, but be sure to keep it fertilized. It is hard to over fertilize this type of plant.
-
Step 4
Water often. It is also hard to over water an Indonesian Palm. Obviously do not drown it, but as soon as the soil begins to dry on the surface, you can certainly water it again.
-
Step 5
You can stunt the growth by simply leaving it in a smaller pot. Alternatively, by repotting every year into a larger container, your tree can reach heights of over 20’.
-
Step 6
As with almost any houseplant, it is beneficial to change the soil every year. Simply dump out the old soil, gently clean the roots, and repot with fresh potting soil. If you use potting soil that already contains fertilizer, do not add additional fertilize for at least 3 months.
