Beating addiction, will be the challenge of a lifetime, but it can be the most empowering and self-affirming thing someone can do! The process of breaking and addiction can be done by going into a drug and alcohol facility, going to out patient drug treatment of going through rehab with the assistance of friends and family.

  • A desire to be drug free
  1. Step 1

    Wanting help: The addict must want to help. No one can stop your addiction but the addict. They must make a decision to get help!

  2. Step 2

    Making the decision: In order to stop addiction, the addict has to to make the decision that they are tired of their addiction. They must get help as a favor to no one other than themselves.

  3. Step 3

    Drug Rehab: Often an addiction need the help of rehab to stop and addiction. Find a drug rehab facility to address the drug abuse. In rehab the addict will explore the root causes of your addiction.

  4. Step 4

    Change of environment: In order to stop an addiction, the addict needs to change their environment. Create a addiction proof environment. Avoid, people places and things that may trigger the desire to use.

  5. Step 5

    Making restitution: The addict must to forgive and make restitution if possible. Eventually, the addict will need to ask their forgiveness for things that they did while in addiction.

  6. Step 6

    Stay connected with support: In order to break an addiction, the addict needs to stay connected to their support system.

  7. Step 7

    Prayer: Praying will help the addict reconnect with a God and bring spiritual healing.
