Many times, especially if you are new to Betfair and Horse Race Laying , you want to be bet less than the Betfair minimum bet of £6.

Placing a lay bet, i.e. betting the horse to lose at 10-1 odds, can result in a huge liability to you if the horse actually wins. If you bet £6 your liability would be £60. If you are new to horse laying you may want to know how to risk much smaller amounts than the Betfair minimum bet of £6.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Betfair Account
  1. Step 1

Place your bet by laying the minimum amount at 1.01 odds

For example, place a lay bet for £2.00 at 1.01 odds

  2. Step 2

Go to the “My Bets” area and modify your bet by increasing the minimum amount by the amount you wish to bet

For example, let's say you want to bet 1p. Just add 1p to your original bet. Now your bet will be £2.01. This will split your bet into two parts, one for £2 and one for 1p.

  3. Step 3

    Cancel the £2 bet.

  4. Step 4

Now adjust the odds of the 1p bet to what you desire.

Tips & Warnings
  • Betfair treats all of your bets on a first come, first served basis. Because of this Betfair will split your bets based on the time that they were entered. This splitting of bets allows you to effectively bet less than the minimum.
  • If gambling in any form is illegal in your jurisdiction then I suggest you abide by your local laws.
  • Betting the horses should be fun and profitable in the long run. If it is not then please stop.
