Instructions

    • 1

Water the lawn in the mornings with your garden hose or sprinkler system to make sure that the grass will thrive. On days with heavy rainfall you will not have to worry about watering the grass yourself.

    • 2

Apply fertilizer to your grass at least once a year. This should be done during the growing season. Make sure you have the right fertilizer for the particular kind of grass in your yard by reading the fertilizer label.

    • 3

Mow the grass weekly during the rapid growth months. Make sure your lawn mower blades are sharp so that the grass is cut smooth and not torn apart. Mow only when it is dry to prevent injuring the grass.

    • 4

Leave the grass clippings in the yard instead of bagging them up. The grass clippings bring valuable nutrients to the soil. Since grass clippings decompose quickly they will not be noticeable for long.

    • 5

Remove weeds that can quickly take over your lawn. If you have a small amount of weeds you can pull them out by hand. Make sure that you are getting the entire plant and the roots. Heavy infestations of weeds can be treated with post-emergence weed killers. Weed killer sprays are easy to use and can be very effective.

Tips & Warnings

  • Allow a skilled professional to sharpen the lawn mower blades to prevent injury.
