Create Townies

If you're creating a new neighborhood in the Sims 2 but don't like the looks of all those computer-generated townies, you can spice up your neighborhood by creating custom townies. You can choose townies' jobs, skills, gender preferences and even change their makeup.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Sims 2 game. Go to the Create-a-Sim, CAS, section of the game.

    • 2

Create four groups of eight Sims characters, using the Create-a-Sim character generator. If you want your neighborhood to be populated with a realistic assortment of townies, consider making your characters in group similar to these: Make one group of eight adult Sim males and one group of eight adult Sim females. For your next group, create two elderly Sim males, two adult Sim females, two teen Sim males and two teen Sim females. For your last group, create two elderly Sim females, two adult Sim males, two child Sim males and two child Sim females.

    • 3

Move your first group into an empty lot and pause the game. You will now need to buy the Ingelogical Teleporter Shrub or Painting so that you can transport your townies.

    • 4

Select the first Sim from your group and use the Ingelogical Teleporter Shrub or Painting to move them into the empty neighborhood. When you're asked what to do with the character, choose "Make Me a Townie." Repeat this step for each Sims character from each of your four groups. When you're done with this step, save and quit the game.

    • 5

Open your game again and check your character folder. All of your custom-created Sim townies should now appear in your character folder.

    • 6

Open the Sims Package Editor, SimPE, and select and delete all of the Sim Relationships. This will make it so none of your custom-created Sim townies are related to each other. You may want to keep the Sim Relationships for some of your townies, specifically if you are going to attach any of your younger townies as children to some of the adults you created.

    • 7

Customize your new townies. You can give your townies names, skills and gender preferences if you like. When you're happy with your customization, save the neighborhood file.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you would like to make some of your characters downtownies, choose the "Make Me a Downtownie" option after you've moved them to the downtown area.

  • If you choose not to give your townies jobs, they will be assigned random jobs and skill sets when they are loaded for the first time.
