How to Identify a Gold Crown Brunswick Pool Table
The Brunswick Billiards Co. introduced the Gold Crown pool table in 1961, when it was hailed as an instant classic and has since become the industry standard for professional pool. The table is instantly recognizable for its distinctive leg design, solid-wood and slate construction, and the Brunswick logo along the length of the rail. Follow these steps to identify this classic of rec-room furniture.
Instructions
-
-
1
Look for the Brunswick logo down the length of the side rail.
-
2
Check the table legs. A Gold Crown table has distinctive inverted-V shaped legs and base frame. Each frame is numbered and embossed with the Brunswick logo before leaving the factory. Only authentic Brunswick Gold Crown tables feature a numbered V-base.

-
3
Inspect the dovetail joints beneath the table surface. A Gold Crown features solid-wood joints and solid-wood rails.
-
4
Check for t-shaped nutplates attaching the slate to the table legs. A Gold Crown uses a distinctive T-shaped nut and bolt designed for higher torque when attaching the slate table to the legs.
-
5
Look for solid nickel or brass trim along the rails, which are made of solid mahogany.
