Whether you need to remove a decal from your car window or the ones your child decided to use for wallpapering the fridge, you can easily do so without expensive adhesive removers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Blow-dryer Rubbing alcohol Glass scraper or single-sided razor Towel
  1. Step 1

Peel off as much of the decal as you can with your fingers.

  2. Step 2

Heat the the decal with a blow-dryer on high for 3 to 5 minutes. For large decals, heat and work on small areas at a time.

  3. Step 3

Scrape off as much of the decal as possible with a glass scraper or single-sided razor blade. Glass scrapers are available at auto parts stores. Be careful not to scratch the glass or paint under the decal.

  4. Step 4

Pour or spray some rubbing alcohol over the left-over adhesive and let it soak for 5 to 10 minutes. Then scrub with a soft towel. Repeat until the adhesive is removed.

Tips & Warnings
  • If all else fails, a commercial adhesive remover may help remove the last vestiges of the decal. A heat gun can be used instead of a hair dryer.
  • Never use anything rough or coarse to scrub off decals; they can damage the glass or paint. If you use a heat gun, be sure you do not allow the paint below to get too hot.
