How to Remove a Content Advisor Password from Internet Explorer

Content Advisor is a free security tool that comes with Internet Explorer and allows you to set restrictions on what your children have access to when browsing the internet. Using a supervisor password you can set restrictions on adult content, profanity, guns and drugs. Every now and then you need to adjust the settings and blocking levels using the created password. But If you have forgotten your password, removing it will allow you access to Content Advisor.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Print these directions before proceeding because you will have to restart your computer.

  2. Step 2

    Click the Windows "Start" button and click "Run." Type "regedit" (Without quotes) and press "Enter" to open the registry window.

  3. Step 3

    Click "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" on the left panel. Click "SOFTWARE" and click "Microsoft." Click "Windows" and click "Current Version." Click "Policies" and click the "Ratings" folder. On the right panel, right-click "Key" and click "Delete." Exit the registry. Deleting this item deletes the Content Advisor Passowrd.

  4. Step 4

    Restart your computer and launch your Internet Explorer web browser. Click the "Tools" button on the top menu and click "Internet Options."

  5. Step 5

    Click the "Content" tab on the top, and click "Disable." When asked for a password, leave it blank and Click "OK." The Content Advisor Password is completely removed from your Internet Explorer browser.
