One of the top brands in golf equipment, Ping creates some of the most widely used wedges among professionals and amateurs. The Ping MB 54 wedge is a popular tool used mostly as a sand wedge, with a little more distance than the typical 56-degree sand wedge. Between the sand wedge and pitching wedge, the Ping MB 54 is practical for use on bunker shots, shots inside of 80 yards and short chips off the green.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place the golf ball in the back of your stance, near your back foot, and choke up about an inch on your Ping MB 54.

  2. Step 2

Take a full swing from around 85 yards with your club head even closed all the way and your feet lined up perpendicular to your target. Decrease the amount of your swing to about three-quarters from 50 yards and about one-half at 30 yards.

  3. Step 3

Open the face of the Ping MB 54 about 15 degrees inside of 30 yards, and open your feet 15 degrees by moving them from perpendicular toward the target and take a three-quarter swing from about 15 to 30 yards.

  4. Step 4

Open the club and your feet 45 degrees when playing out of the sand. Take a full swing and hit two inches behind the ball to pop the ball out of the bunker onto the green.

  5. Step 5

Open the Ping MB 54 and your feet about 60 degrees when playing just off of the green for chips within 10 to 15 yards. Take about a 20 percent swing, and use only minimal breaking of the wrists at the point of contact.
