How to Clean Rough Emeralds

Instructions

1. Fill a bowl or basin with warm soapy water. Use a mild dish soap or Woolite.

2. Gently place the rough emeralds in the water.

3. Allow the emeralds to soak for 5 to 10 minutes.

4. Scrub the emeralds with an old toothbrush to remove any loose dirt or debris.

5. Rinse the emeralds in warm clean water and pat them dry with a clean dry cloth.

Tips & Warnings

• It is helpful to wear gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints on the stones. Professional cleaning is also available at some laboratories.

• Never use harsh chemicals or abrasives on the emeralds or they may become damaged. Avoid the use of heat such as steam cleaners and hot water, and do not put emeralds in ultrasonic cleaners.
