Laminate is popular because it's inexpensive, durable and easily maintained. Stains on laminate can make the area feel dirty even when it isn't. Removing stains, whether they're on a laminate floor or counter, is fairly easy with the proper know-how.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Baking soda Soft Clean Cloth Bleach Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Acetone Vinegar

    Several Simple Suggestions

  1. Step 1

Mix baking soda and warm water to make a paste and apply it to the stained area. Allow the paste to sit on the stain for two to three hours before gently wiping it away with a clean, damp cloth.

  2. Step 2

Apply bleach to a clean cloth and wipe it onto the stain. Leave the bleach on the stain for 10 to 15 minutes and add more as needed until the stain is gone.

  3. Step 3

Dampen a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and scrub until the stain is removed.

  4. Step 4

Scrub the stain away with a soft clean cloth dipped in acetone. Continue to scrub and add more acetone as needed until there is no stain.

  5. Step 5

Pour a small amount of white vinegar in a bowl and put it in the microwave until it is hot. Apply the hot vinegar to the stain with a clean cloth and scrub until the stain is gone.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid using cleaners near seams in the laminate, as it may seep underneath and damage the backing. Try each method on an inconspicuous area of the laminate to test for colorfastness before using it to remove the stain.
  • Avoid the use of abrasives that may scratch and damage the laminate.
