Plastic dolls seem to hold a special place in many people's hearts. Little girls dress them up, sleep with them during nap time and play with them for hours. Some adults collect plastic dolls and show them off in their homes using specially display cases with intricate lighting effects. Unfortunately, when handled too much, these dolls can become quite dirty. Thankfully, plastic dolls are easy to clean. All you need is a few household items and a little bit of elbow grease.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dish soap Bowl of water 3 washcloths Q-tip Shampoo Doll hair pick
  1. Step 1

Remove all fabric items (if any) from your doll and set aside. If the doll's clothes need to be washed, soak them in soapy water, rinse with water and allow to air dry.

  2. Step 2

Put a few drops of dish soap into your bowl of water and mix well. You can swirl your fingertips in the bowl to mix.

  3. Step 3

Dip the end of your washcloth into the soapy water and scrub your plastic doll all over. Cleaning in a circular motion will help to break up any dirt.

  4. Step 4

Wet you 2nd washcloth and wring out the excess moisture. Wipe away the soap and dirt debris.

  5. Step 5

Wipe away any extra moisture with your 3rd washcloth.

  6. Step 6

Dip your Q-tip into your soapy water and clean the facial features and fingernails of your doll.

  7. Step 7

Wipe away the soap and dry the doll's face, the same way you did its body.

  8. Step 8

Put a dab of shampoo on your thumb, add a few drops of water and rub your thumb and index finger together to create a lather.

  9. Step 9

Run your soapy fingers through your doll's hair to clean it.

  10. Step 10

Rinse the doll's hair with water and pat dry.

  11. Step 11

Comb through your doll's hair using the hair pick. Your plastic doll should now be clean.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a toothbrush for stubborn dirt spots. Use a toothpick to get in the corner of your doll's eyes or fingernails.
  • After cleaning your doll with soapy water, always wipe away the soap with a wet washcloth and dry completely. This will prevent soap spots or water spots developing on your plastic doll. Do not submerge your plastic doll in water. Doing so can lead to the doll's insides filling with water.
