    • 1

Call your physician to discuss alternative treatments if you are taking Bromocriptine and wish to stop using the drug.

    • 2

Tell your doctor about any other conditions you have and other medications you are taking so the two of you can formulate the best plan for your care.

    • 3

Do not stop taking Bromocriptine abruptly, but instead taper off the drug gradually to prevent symptoms from recurring. Bromocriptine as prescribed for certain conditions, such as inhibiting tumor growth, should not be stopped immediately so as to prevent the tumor from growing rapidly.

    • 4

Stop Bromocriptine and talk to your doctor immediately if you are pregnant or may become pregnant. The drug can stop milk production.

    • 5

Have a different treatment plan ready if you have been taking Bromocriptine to treat a cocaine addiction. Your doctor may prescribe a different drug or recommend another treatment to ease your recovery from addiction.

Tips & Warnings

  • If Bromocriptine is being taken for cancer or a tumor and you suddenly stop treatment, the tumor can grow rapidly as a result. Use caution and consult your doctor before stopping treatment.
