How to Convert Doc to Azw
If you have an Amazon Kindle reader and want to be able to view some files that you have in Microsoft Word's Doc format, you will have to convert your files to Azw format. Azw is the file format that Kindle reads. To convert to Azw, you will need to use the free Mobipocket Creator program. With Mobipocket Creator, you can quickly and easily convert your Doc files to Azw format.

Point your web browser to the Mobipocket website (see Resources). Download and install the Mobipocket Creator to your computer. It is a free program.

Launch Mobipocket Creator on your computer. Prepare to select your Doc file by going to "Import from Existing File" and choosing Microsoft Word.

Select the Doc file that you want to convert to Azw. You can only convert one file at a time to Azw. When you have selected the file, click "Open."

Set your output as Azw. With Mobipocket Creator, the default output file type is HTML. Click on "Settings" to change your output file type to Azw.

Click "Build" to start the Doc to Azw conversion. Mobipocket Creator will quickly convert your Doc file and present you with a completion message on the screen when it is done. Click "OK" and you will then have a Azw file that you can use with your Kindle.

I have downloaded the soft and installed it in both version (home and more advanced one). On the settings section there is no option to choose an output file type.

I'm using v4.2 build 41. I'm able to create the ebook following these steps: 1) First save the doc file as htm or html 2) In MobiPocket Creator, go to Create New Publication > Blank publication 3) Give it a name, Continue 4) Click on "Click here to add a file", then select de html file you transformed your .doc to 5) Go to "Book settings" on the left panel and in book type select "ebook". You can also add metadata, cover image and other things to the ebook if you want to. 6) Click on Build (on the top panel) > Build This way you get a .prc file wich is not the standard Kindle format (which is .azw) but it's fully compatible (you can change font size, take notes and higlight)
