Maranello is located in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The town may sound unfamiliar to many, but for most car enthusiasts and Formula 1 fans, Maranello is well-known because it is home to Ferrari, one of the most prestigious car manufacturers in the world. It is also home to the Scuderia Formula 1 Racing Team and the Galleria Ferrari, which displays racing cars and trophies.

Instructions

    Instructions:

  1. Step 1

Getting to Maranello means passing through Modena, the nearest city, and Bologna, the city with the nearest airport. If you are coming from other parts of Italy or from another country, you can take a plane to Bologna. Domestic or international flights to Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Bologna are offered by Meridiana, Alitalia, British Airways, KLM and Air France, to name a few.

  2. Step 2

From Bologna, take a train to Modena. Trains depart the Bologna train station to Modena every hour. Check the schedules at the train station information booth.

  3. Step 3

Walk to the Modena bus station on Via Bacchini near the train station and take the bus to Maranello. Buses depart hourly all day and timetables and destinations are available at the tourist office.

  4. Step 4

You can also rent a car and drive to Maranello from Modena. Driving easier and more convenient because directions are easy to follow and the roads have clear signposts.

  5. Step 5

Start from the Modena train station on Strada Sant'Ana and head south. Turn left, still on the Strada Sant'Ana. When you reach the roundabout, take the first exit. At the next roundabout, take the first exit again onto Strada Cimitero San Cataldo. Turn right and take the ramp to SS9 highway.

  6. Step 6

Continue driving on the freeway, following the signs to Maranello/SS12/Modena Sud/SP3/SS486/Abetone/Sassuolo. At the Via Modena Sassuolo roundabout, take the second exit to Via Pademontana/SP467.

  7. Step 7

Drive on Via Pademontana until you reach the exit to Via Trebbo. Turn right on Via Musso road.

Tips & Warnings
  • Rent a car and share with friends so you can go at your own pace and visit other towns near Maranello or Modena. There are many hotels around but you can try staying at Hotel Domus, which is located at the heart of Maranello next to the city hall. This is also where the many of the Grand Prix drivers used to stay.
  • You can also take a cab from Modena to Maranello. However, the travel would take an hour or more and thus will cost more than taking public transportation or renting a car.
