Grow up in the '80s? Love '80s music and the culture of the decade? Do your friends share your affinity for the '80s? If so, you should throw an '80s party. It is a fun way to go back in time and share a little piece of history. Going back to the '80s will be a good way to re-live your youth or experience a decade in which you didn't grow up, whichever the case may be. Be sure to invite people who at least like '80s music or appreciate the celebrities from the era. It is also a relatively inexpensive party to throw, presumably because you own or someone you know owns a lot of the things you will need.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Glitter pens Neon-colored paper Table Food and drinks CDs Invitations Stickers Streamers Tape Confetti Hairspray Gel Mousse Neon-colored items of clothing
  1. Step 1

Either buy or make invitations. If you are making them, look for neon-colored paper and glitter pens. First write out what your invitation is going to say on scrap pieces of paper. Once you have decided on the information, write on the neon-colored paper. Using the gel pens, go over the writing to cover up the ink. Put stickers on the invitations and mail them out.

  2. Step 2

Make a list of all the 1980s music you know and like. You should be able to locate all of these songs on CD or on MP3s. Pick the obvious ones like Madonna and Michael Jackson as well as the one-hit wonders like Aha. Then using your computer, download the songs in the order you want them to play during the party.

  3. Step 3

Take the streamers and tear off 15 to 20 three-inch sections. Hang each from the ceiling or a piece of furniture, securing them with tape. Twist at the ends and let hang.

  4. Step 4

Grab a handful of confetti and throw around the main room where the party goers will be. Clear out a portion of the room so people can dance if they want to without hitting your furniture. Set up a table along the wall of the main room for food and drink.

  5. Step 5

Dress yourself in neon-colored clothing and put a lot of hairspray, gel or mousse in your hair before the party. Turn on '80s music once people start to arrive.
