How to Remove a Gasoline Smell From Shoes
Of all the dreadful things that we may step in, gasoline is one that causes a number of issues. Aside from a possible stain that will need to be washed out, there may also be a persistent lingering "I was clumsy at the gas station" aroma that comes with it. Mix vinegar and water in equal parts in a spray bottle. Saturate the shoes completely. If the shoes are machine washable, add a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle.

Saturate a clean cloth with Simple Green and wipe the shoes down with it. Set the shoes someplace cool and dry until they are no longer damp and repeat if needed.

Sprinkle baking soda in and all over the shoes and let them sit for two the three hours before brushing away the baking soda.

Place the shoes in a bag with activated charcoal and tie the bag closed. Leave the shoes in the bag for at least 24 hours.

Wrap the shoes in newspaper and set them in a cool dry place for 24-48 hours.

Tips & Warnings
Keep the shoes away from any open flames as they may be flammable until they are cleaned and the odor is gone.
