A folder created for sharing can be placed in a common directory so authorized users can retrieve it easily and conveniently. If one of these folders contains information that becomes irrelevant, it might be marked for deletion. You can remove one of these document holding units when its function has become questionable or when the contents need modification.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on the "Start" menu, then select "My Computer," then "Tools" from the toolbar menu. Click "Folder Options."

  2. Step 2

Select the "Offline Files" tab, then press "Delete Files." Note: Click on "View Files" to see an individual file before deleting it if you want to avoid a group file removal. Click "Delete" after selecting each file.

  3. Step 3

Pick the "Delete Only The Temporary Offline Versions" option to delete duplicates of a shared file. Or pick the option "Delete Both The Temporary Offline Versions And The Versions That Are Always Available Offline" to remove the originals, including all copies.

Tips & Warnings
  • By deleting a folder that is used for sharing, you also disconnect any links to it. Follow through by ensuring all file locations such as websites you are responsible for also have their references to the folder removed. You must have administrator privileges to manage "User Accounts" to delete a folder designated for sharing.
