Instructions

  1. Soft Foam Braces

    • 1

Wash your neck with soap and warm water. Dry your neck with a towel. This will ensure the brace stays free of bacteria.

    • 2

Wrap the brace around your neck. Make sure the part that fastens is at the back of your neck. Position the brace so your chin is resting comfortably on it. You chin should neither stick out more than 1/2 inch from the brace nor be able to slip down inside of it.

    • 3

Fasten the neck brace with the Velcro strap. It should be snug, but not so tight that it causes discomfort or inhibits blood and oxygen circulation.

    Rigid Plastic Braces

    • 4

Lie down on a bed and make sure your spine is as straight as possible.

    • 5

Put the front half of the brace on your chest. Slide it up until it sits firmly against your chin.

    • 6

Put the back half of the brace under your neck. The back of your head should fit comfortably in the grooves of the brace.

    • 7

Fasten the two halves together with the Velcro straps. It should be snug enough that your head movement is extremely limited.

Tips & Warnings

  • Follow your doctor's directions regarding how often and how long you need to wear your brace. Let your doctor know if the brace is extremely uncomfortable, too small or too big.
