Elimite cream is a scabicide that kills the scabies mite. Scabies is a skin disorder caused by a small mite that burrows under the skin and leads to severe itching and a blistering rash that develops about a month after the initial infestation. It is spread by direct and prolonged skin contact with another person who has scabies. When used correctly, Elimite cream effectively destroys the mite and its eggs. Reapplication may be necessary if the scabies mite doesn't die after the first treatment.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Apply a generous amount of the Elimite cream all over your body including your face, ears, neck, soles of feet and palms. Do not apply onto your scalp; this is only required for children or older adults. Avoid contact with the inside of your nose and mouth, the eye area, and the genital area.

  2. Step 2

Allow the cream to absorb into your skin for 8 to 14 hours.

  3. Step 3

Remove the cream after the allotted time by washing it off with soap and warm water.

  4. Step 4

If you see mites after two weeks of using Elimite, reapply in a similar manner.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use as directed by your doctor. Consult a physician if the mites don't go away after at least two applications. Consult a doctor before use if you are pregnant or nursing. Common side effects include mild itching, burning, redness and swelling.
  • Do not use on children under 2 months. See a doctor immediately if you experience a rash, difficulty breathing or tightness in the chest, itching, hives, or swelling of the mouth, lips or tongue.
