Set Up a Wireless Apple Mighty Mouse

The Mighty Mouse replaced Apple's old one-button mouse design, adding touch-senitive right and left click buttons, a Scroll Ball, and side buttons. The wireless Mighty Mouse includes Bluetooth technology and laser tracking. Follow these steps to get started using your Apple wireless Mighty Mouse.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a Mac with Bluetooth
  • an Apple wireless Mighty Mouse
  • 5 minutes
  1. Step 1

Insert batteries into the mouse. You can use either 1 or 2 AA batteries; the Mighty Mouse works fine either way.

  2. Step 2

On your Mac, click on the Bluetooth icon located in the top right of the screen near the time. Choose "Set up Bluetooth Device". The Bluetooth Setup Assistant will open.

  3. Step 3

The Bluetooth Setup Assistant will open. Click Continue.

  4. Step 4

Slide the power switch located under the Mighty Mouse down to turn it on. The small green light should glow and then begin to blink.

  5. Step 5

Select "Mouse" as the device type and click Continue again.

  6. Step 6

Your Apple Mighty Mouse should be recognized quickly and shown in the list. Click your mouse in the list and click Continue. If no mice are found, repeat Step 3.

  7. Step 7

The Bluetooth Setup Assistant will pair your Mac and wireless Mighty Mouse. When finished, "Your computer is now setup to use your Bluetooth mouse" will appear. Click Quit.

  8. Step 8

Your wireless Mighty Mouse will now be working. To change mouse settings, go to System Preferences, Keyboard & Mouse.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some users prefer to use only 1 AA battery to make the Mighty Mouse lighter.
  • When done using the Mighty Mouse for the day, switch its power off to extend battery life.
