Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

FIND LIST OF MODELING AGENCIES AND TALENT AGENCIES

You will first need to find a free list of modeling and talent agencies to mail your snapshots and information to. You can find a free list here: http://www.allcastingcalls.com

Some agencies might only take email submissions, so be sure to visit the modeling agency's website to see if they take postal mail submissions or email submissions. For now, this article will focus on postal mail submissions as a lot of agencies still use this submission process.

  2. Step 2

SUBMIT TO MODELING AGENCIES AND TALENT AGENCIES

Address your envelopes with your return address and the Modeling Agency or Talent Agency Address. Write neatly. If possible, create mailing labels and just stick them on the the envelopes. You do not want your envelope returned to you because the post office can't read your handwriting. Nor do you want your envelope to go to the wrong address.

  3. Step 3

PROTECT YOUR MODELING AND ACTING SUBMISSIONS

On the front and back of the envelope write in capital letters:
    *PHOTOS - DO NOT BEND

This is to inform the post office not to bend your photos an information. You do not want the modeling agency to receive a bent up photos.

  4. Step 4

INCLUDE MODELING AND ACTING COVER LETTER TO MODELING OR TALENT AGENCY

Include a cover letter in your submission as this is your brief introduction of yourself to the modeling and talent agency.

To view a sample modeling cover letter, you can visit: http://www.allcastingcalls.com/samplemodelingagencycoverletter

  5. Step 5

INCLUDE A MODELING RESUME AND ACTING RESUME

Include your modeling or acting resume resume (if applicable.) If you don't have one, that is ok, just be sure to have a cover letter with all your contact information.

  6. Step 6

    MODELING PHOTOS AND ACTING HEADSHOT

Also include snapshots of yourself. It is best to send natural looking headshots and full body shots to modeling agencies and headshots to talent agencies. In your full body shots, do not pose, just stand straight with your hands to your sides. Make sure you look natural in your photos and not with a whole lot of makeup (if you are a female). If you have a comp card, you can include this as well in your envelope.

If you are sending snapshots of yourself, write your name and contact information on the back of all of them.

  7. Step 7

PUT MODELING AND ACTING ENVELOPE TOGETHER

The order of how how things should go in the envelope are:
    1 - Cover Letter
    2 - Resume (if applicable)
    3 - Photos

  8. Step 8

CLOSE YOUR MODELING AND ACTING SUBMISSION ENVELOPE

Fold the Cover Letter and Resume in half and put the photos in between. Stick in the envelope and seal.

  9. Step 9

MAIL COVER LETTER, RESUME, AND PHOTOS TO MODELING AGENCY AND TALENT AGENCY

Take to post office to mail but be sure to get the envelope(s) weighed as the weight may be more than mailing off a regular letter.

  10. Step 10

Be Patient! If a model and talent agency is interested in representing you, they will contact you.

Tips & Warnings
  • Modeling and Talent Agencies receive TONS of photos each day. Be patient
  • If you don't hear back from an agency, don't get upset, it's just the nature of the business.
  • Don't give up, try sending your photos to multiple agencies
  • If an agency asks you to pay to be represented. RUN!!! That means they are not legit as an agency should not ask for money upfront for you to be represented by them.
