Instructions
  1. Step 1

Collect your mail as quickly as possible. Do not let it sit there, get it as soon as you see the mailman or come home from work. You might also consider mailing bills right at the post office, especially credit card bills.

  2. Step 2

Never carry your social security card. Keep it locked away in a safe. Memorize it. That goes for your family's cards as well.

  3. Step 3

Protect your "pin" number. Memorize it and never write it down. Don't make your personal pin number your address or social. What out for people peaking over your shoulder when you are getting cash out of the machine's as well.

  4. Step 4

Check your credit reports for anything unusual.

  5. Step 5

Never give personal information over the phone for unsolicitated retailers or callers.

  6. Step 6

Tear up unwanted receipts, credit offers, statements, credit offers, etc. Don't let dumpster divers get ahold of them.

  7. Step 7

If your credit card statement appears late, make sure you call customer service to find out when it was sent.

  8. Step 8

Can't find your credit cards? Call ASAP and tell your creditors so that they cancel and give you a new number.
