Make finger Paint and Cheap clay for Kids

All kids, and a lot of us adults, love to finger-paint or play with clay. Follow the steps in the following two recipes and you and your kids will be having fun in no time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    To Make Finger Paint:
Mix 1 1/4 cups of flour with 1 cup water. After it is well mixed divide into 3 bowls. In each bowl add 1 tablespoon of glycerin and a few drops of food coloring

  2. Step 2

    To Make Clay

Mix 1/2 cup table salt (do not use sea salt) and 1/2 cup hot water in a saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat.

  3. Step 3

Place 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup cornstarch in bowl. Mix well. Add food coloring as desired.

  4. Step 4

Pour the cold water/cornstarch/food coloring mixture into the boiling salt water and stir to keep it from lumping. Turn temperature to low and keep stirring until mixture is stiff.

  5. Step 5

Carefully remove from heat and turn onto work surface. Knead until smooth. Use immediately or wrap in plastic and store in airtight container.

  6. Step 6

Clay can be air dried at room temperature for 3 days or baked for 2 hours at 200 degrees.
