Many women may be blown away by looks or a guy's impressive resume however there are other things you will want to look for that are tell-tale signs you've signed up with a bad date and/or companion.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look under his fingernails. Ladies if you notice his fingernails are dirty underneath this is a very bad sign. A man should have his nails short manicured and very clean. I don't care how cute his face or if he is as rich as the dickens run for the hills if he has dirty fingernails.

  2. Step 2

Secondly, he should have good manners. It is a sign of his intelect. If at any time during the date he allows you to walk behind him like you are some kind of puppy you'll need to write him off and without much ceremony.

  3. Step 3

He can dress casual however not the kind of casual that looks like he needs instruction as to dress. There is trendy casual (and then there is everything else).

  4. Step 4

You should feel whenever you see him he made a special effort to look good for you. You are not an afterthought: you should be the reason he gets up in the morning.

  5. Step 5

Judge a man by his pets and his hobbies. Is he athletic? Does he have a dog, goldfish? The fact he is willing to take care of another creature may be a good sign or it could be a ploy to make you think he is pet-friendly: Think about this when you are dating him.

  6. Step 6

Don't ever trust a man who wants to share a piece of pie or any dessert especailly when he has money. What kind of guy doesn't allow you to have your own piece of pie? What kind of stingy tight-wad is he? Write him off immediately. This isn't romantic.

  7. Step 7

If he is willing to buy you clothes don't let him pick out the outfit. The last time I did this I ended up with something that looked like I belonged in the 50s. I tried to be polite however the outfit was cut up and turned into scraps for a quilt.

  8. Step 8

Don't date anyone too much older as a general rule or too young.

  9. Step 9

If you can't have a conversation with him on a reasonable level: forget it.

  10. Step 10

He should be fine with Teddy Bears.

  11. Step 11

He shouldn't be afraid to give you chocolates: he should not need to police your weight. Chocolates are very romantic and you should be in enough control of your individual weight not to need any assistance from him. Therefore, don't trust a guy who can't be vintage with regard to romance and chocolates.

  12. Step 12

He should be familiar with at least two or three classics even if he has not read them all the way through. I put this rule in here as a security measure ladies.

  13. Step 13

He should be respectful of you at all times. This means he's comfortable holding the door open for you and it should not appear to be a new function for him. Additionally he must be comfortable pulling your chair out like it is second nature; and always be respectful and speak well of your family regardless of any disagreement you may have with them.

  14. Step 14

He should be more familiar with spirituality than the best dope to buy.

  15. Step 15

He should not be afraid to show up at your door with flowers from time to time. If he cannot show any displays of true affection ditch him.

  16. Step 16

He should not use you as a sounding board as to past relationships; or speak ill of the ex.

He is with you now and that is what matters.

  17. Step 17

Lastly, he should listen to you and not try to understand you, and you should listen to him and inherently understand completely.

Observe the above rules of order as to dating and you will have no difficulty in this area.

Tips & Warnings
  • You as well should be mannerly, respectful and well-groomed for him. Therefore if he acts rude to you, you can use this as a barometer that it is certainly not you. Women tend to sometimes second guess themselves. Be your best self and if he can't appreciate it rid yourself of him.
